Sustainable Development Goals
Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) are 17 sustainable development goals for a better, livable world by 2030. The SDG's were agreed upon by countries affiliated with the United Nations (UN), including the Netherlands. The 17 goals cover diverse themes such as climate, health, poverty, biodiversity, equality and justice for all. For a livable, sustainable world, the UN says all 17 SDG's should be achieved by 2030. Although primarily aimed at governments, there is also an expectation that business and financial institutions will contribute to this.
Our choice for 3 SDG's
Achmea Bank has chosen 3 SDG's, as part of our Sustainable Living Together vision, to which we want to make the most impactful contribution. These align closely with the core activities of our business: Reducing Inequality (SDG 10), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) and Climate Action (SDG 13). We actively support them, because we want to contribute to achieving these goals and long-term value creation is important to us. In our annual report, we outline how we contribute to these goals.

Our ESG policy
We are transparant about our ESG achievements
We report on our objectives and results for each ESG criterion in our annual ESG Impact Report. In addition we report on the total CO2 emissions and energy labels of our mortgage portfolio. Finally, we report on our ESG ratings, which can be found (together with the ESG Impact Reports) on this page.
More information
Achmea Bank signed the Climate Agreement in 2019, thereby committing ourselves to report on the climate impact of our mortgages from 2020 onwards. We include an ESG section in our annual report and publish an annual ESG Impact Report in which we report on the carbon emissions and energy labels of our mortgage portfolio. We also report on (regulatory) disclosures related to carbon emissions, energy labels and environmentally sustainable economic activities. We are actively participating in working groups of PCAF and EEM-Hub NL on these themes.
